De-Mystifying Economics

Professor Gerald J. Swanson, Ph.D., is the Thomas R. Brown Distinguished Professor of Economics at theUniversity of Arizona, Eller College of Management, where he has taught more than 40,000 students over the past 35 years.  A nationally recognized economist, he is a frequent lecturer to business, government, education and civic organizations, and has appeared on national television including The Today Show, Larry King Live and Lou Dobbs’ Money Line.  He is also a New York Times best selling author.

Professor Swanson employs an energetic and accessible approach to teaching economics.  As illustrated by being the recipient of every major UA teaching award, he has an extraordinary ability to make the subject exciting, practical, and intuitive.  We taped Gerry as he taught a three-day class, De-Mystifying Economics, to a group of Street School teachers who were interested in learning more about the subject.  This teaching provides the economic foundation upon which our infusion model rests. We are confident that as you watch the DVD of this class you, too, will share our enthusiasm for infusing Economics into your curriculum.

How will an understanding of Economic principles benefit you and your students? Below, two videos of Professor Swanson will introduce you to the De-Mystifying Economics Series. You can choose from a 3-minute program summary, and a 6-minute teaching sample.
